The CE marking is an indispensable requirement for selling a product throughout the European Union, it is realized by the manufacturer, who is the sole responsible for ensuring that the manufactured products comply with the essential requirements of the Community Directives.
If the product is manufactured outside the European Unión, the responsible of the marking is the manufacturer agent; otherwise, it would be the importer.
CE Marking must be visible, legible and indelible, the steps to follow for its fulfillment are:
- Verification of the compliance with the demanded requisites. Verification of the applicable Community Directives
- Control of production quality
- Technical Dossier
The Instituto Tecnológico de la Energía helps and advises companies about procedures and guidelines of compliance evaluation that must be followed when issuing the technical dossier for the products’ CE marking.
The most common Directives that are applied in electric, electronic and communication sectors are: Low Voltage Directive 2006/95/CE, Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 2004/108/CE and Machinery Directive 2006/42/CE.
