The sixth edition of the programme “Pioneers into Practice” has launched the 2016 call, applications close on 3 May 2016 for the regions participating in this programme. Its main objective is to promote clean technology, projects and a sustainable low-carbon economy through professional mobility.
Climate-Kic is the main initiative of the EU about climate change and it is formed by companies, academic institutions and public bodies, including the Instituto Tecnológico de la Energía.
The “Pioneers into Practice” programme, also known as PiP, gathers professionals of academic, business, research and management sectors committed to and aware of the effects of the climate change. It is possible to apply for this programme as a pioneer or as a host organization, to host and work some weeks with other pioneer from another institution. Participant pioneers will receive an economic support up to 2,000 € for transportation and accommodation costs.
Specifically, the international location of the pioneers will take place in the European regions participating in the programme: Central Hungary (Hungary), Emilia-Romagna (Italy), Hessen (Germany), Lower Silesia (Poland), Utrecht (Netherlands), West- Midlands (UK) and the Valencian Community in Spain. Moreover, they will participate in the programme further European regions that will support the others, such as Cork/Dublin, Helsinki/Uusimaa, Northern Portugal, Lisbon, Slovenia and Timis.
According to the programme, the activities carried out will be focused on developing an active participation, knowledge transfer and exchange of experiences on technological low carbon innovation. Participant pioneers will provide an intersectoral and multidisciplinary approach to activities because of their different areas of training, organizations and sectors of origin.
Pioneers into Practice (PiP) is a programme that has aroused great interest in its last editions, in view of the increasing number of requests to participate in each edition, motivated mainly by the exchange of information, knowledge, experiences and ideas, generated during it. The ultimate goal that the programme wants to achieve is to create a new generation of experts, high level businessmen and legislators to achieve a European low-carbon economy, that have the ability to develop new products and services that meet the new market needs and create new employment niches.
This programme belongs and is supported by Climate-KIC, the main initiative of the European Union on climate change, and is coordinated by the pillar of education. It is the largest public-private partnership in Europe focused on innovation to mitigate the climate change and adapt to it. Climate-KIC is formed by companies, academic institutions and public bodies.
The organization has its head office in London and, through its centers all around Europe, it offers its support to start-up, gathers partners in innovation projects, as well as training students with the aim of achieving a creative and connected transformation of knowledge and ideas to obtain products and services that will contribute to mitigate the climate change and to adapt to it.
